Many skilful players would go there to play othello, including Hong Kong champion "hksheep", "berner" who is always within the maindland-China-ranking top 10, "windzxz"("windz" in GGS) who is 1900+ in kurnik(now PlayOK), and U.S.A champion Randy Fang("fangr" in GGS)."hksheep" is also the producer and adminstrator of Mimosa.
Apart from playing with human player, GGS provides many AIs for you to train, don't think that the AIs are as weak as the program in Gameboy or in electronic dictionary, the AIs in GGS are much stronger than you can imagine, some of them are even stronger than World champion!
The software used to connect with GGS -- Mimosa v1.02 ( including English, Chinese and Japanese versions)

Teaching part
If you are ready to play, you just have to choose a player or AI from the namelist on left hand side, then rightclick his name, choose "New game"

Then, a series of options will be shown, you can play either a rated or a non-rated game(rated game is only allowed for registed players), also can choose the colour of disc and the time of the game(in minute), the time shown after " // " represents the reserved time when you timeout.
"Random" and "Initial disc" are neligible. "Anti Game" means that you can win the game when you have little discs than your opponent.

The game will appear after you press "OK".

Register: It's free! But you have to find the adminstrator to help you, either "hksheep" or "dan".
Introduction of AI
The namelist below (except piglet) shows all AIs which are for players, but for the non-registered players, only ant and tit4tat are available, sorry.

The information about the AI:
AI can foreknow the situation after several flippings, they are said to have "ply", for example, "fly" has 2-ply, it means that "fly" can foreknow the situation after two following flippings. Some of the AIs may have "perfect endgame", which means they won't have mistake in the last several flippings. The ply of each AI are listed below.
ant = 1
ant+ = 1(16-ply endgame)
fly = 2
patzer = 3
viper = 4
scorpion = 6
scorp+ = 6(16-ply endgame)
OO7 = 7(18-ply endgame)
zebra7 = 7(18-ply endgame)
tit4tat = 8(he will try to maintain draw in result, and will tell you how many discs he has given you.)
I suggest that you can begin from ant, but it is also difficult for beginners to win it=P
